Samsung Galaxy FOLD Singapore
In September 2019, Samsung has unveiled its new futuristic invention; namely Galaxy FOLD. Being the first foldable display device available in the mainstream is something not many tech companies can brag about.
At 7.3-inch when fully extended, the display is optimized for productivity. Editing a spreadsheet is much easier, taking gaming to a whole new level and watching Youtube while Whatsapp your friends and book your air ticket all at the same time is now possible on a mobile device, thanks to the Google multitasking feature.
A display like no others: foldable Infinity Flex Display
It’s amazing how a device can transform smoothly from a utility 4.6-inch outer screen to a modest 7.3-inch tablet. Much of the key material that made it possible is a sheet of polymer film that is flexible at the same time durable to withstand 200,000 fold — that is nearly three years of lifespan if you fold it 200 times per day.
The articulated spine makes folding so natural like a book
The best way to describe Galaxy FOLD`s folding mechanism is by watching how a luxury timepiece works. To avoid over-extend the display beyond 180-degree limit, it has a 20-part gears across the hinge so that it could open and close perfectly like a book. The satisfying click sound reminds me of the Nokia Communicator feel back then, only now is a fully functional display instead of a physical keyboard and a small TFT screen.
Portability: Folds in your hand. Fits in your pocket
When folded, it feels small enough to fit in your pocket and it makes operating with a single hand possible. Unlocking the phone is intuitive as the fingerprint scanner is strategically placed at the frame where usually your thumb can reach easily.
Multitasking
As Samsung put it “the possibilities are endless with Multi-Active Windows”. For the first time on a mobile device, you can now have the luxury of enjoying your favorite Youtube video while texting your phone via Facebook while working on your Google Sheet all at once. This is how you define Multi-tasking on the go.
